Everything you need to know to care for your Mannash jewellery — so it stays as beautiful as the day you first wore it.
Included in every Mannash orderYour Mannash Jewellery Care KitEvery order ships with two essentials: a specially treated silver polishing cloth to restore shine in seconds, and a zip lock bag to store your pieces safely when not wearing them.
Simple habits that keep all your Mannash pieces looking their best — easy to follow, big difference in the long run.
Do
Wipe with your polishing cloth after every wear
Put jewellery on after applying perfume, lotion and hairspray
Remove before bed to prevent bending and tangling
Store each piece separately in its pouch or box
Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight
Wear regularly — natural skin oils help protect silver
Dry completely before storing after any contact with water
Use a silica gel packet in your jewellery box (especially in monsoon)
Don't
Don't wear while bathing or swimming
Don't spray perfume or deodorant directly onto jewellery
Don't use paper towels or rough cloth — they scratch the surface
Don't use toothpaste, bleach, or ammonia-based cleaners
Don't store in the bathroom — humidity speeds up tarnishing
Don't store multiple pieces loose together — they scratch each other
Don't wear in a pool or hot spring — chlorine damages plating
Care by colour & finish
All Mannash jewellery is crafted in silver. Gold Plated and Rose Gold are colour & finish options — here's what to know for each.
Silver92.5% pure silver · The classic choice
Why silver tarnishes
Silver reacts with sulphur compounds in the air, forming a dark layer called silver sulphide. This is natural — not a defect. India's humidity and monsoon season speed this up. The good news: it's completely reversible with your polishing cloth.
Daily care
After each wear, gently buff with your Mannash polishing cloth in long, straight strokes (not circular). This removes skin oils, sweat residue and early tarnish before it builds up. Takes 30 seconds — makes a huge difference.
Deep clean (every 3–4 weeks)
Mix a drop of mild dish soap in lukewarm water. Soak the piece for 5 minutes. Use a soft baby toothbrush on crevices. Rinse under clean running water, then pat fully dry with a soft cloth. Never store damp.
Storage
Store in an airtight zip-lock pouch or the Mannash box. During monsoon (June–September), add a silica gel packet inside your jewellery box. Avoid wooden boxes without anti-tarnish lining — wood releases sulphur.
Gold Plated over 925 SilverThin gold layer · Handle with extra care
Understand the plating
Gold plated means a thin layer of gold is bonded onto the 925 silver base. This layer — while beautiful — is delicate and will wear down over time with friction, sweat, and chemicals. Gentle care dramatically extends its life.
Daily care
Use the polishing cloth very gently — light strokes only. Avoid rubbing the same spot repeatedly. After wear, use a dry microfibre or cotton cloth to wipe away sweat and oils. This is the single biggest thing you can do to preserve the gold layer.
Cleaning
Never soak gold plated jewellery. Instead: lightly dampen a cotton cloth with plain water, wipe gently, then dry immediately and completely. Avoid soap — even mild soap can lift the plating over time.
What to avoid strictly
Chlorine, perfume contact, hand sanitiser, acids, and abrasive polishing compounds will strip gold plating permanently. Keep it away from water and chemicals and it'll stay gorgeous for a long time.
Rose GoldSilver with rose gold plating · Warm blush tone
What gives it the blush tone
Rose gold gets its warm pink colour from a gold-copper alloy plating. The copper content means it can be slightly more reactive to moisture and acids than yellow gold plating. The care rules are similar but require even more mindfulness around water.
Daily care
Wipe gently with a dry soft cloth after every wear. Avoid the polishing cloth on the plated surface — the cloth is designed for silver and may be too abrasive for the thin rose gold layer. Use a clean cotton pad or microfibre cloth instead.
Cleaning
Use a slightly damp (not wet) cotton cloth. Wipe in one direction — don't scrub. Dry immediately with a second dry cloth. Never submerge in water and avoid soap entirely. Store dry.
Keeping the colour
Apply perfume and moisturiser at least 10 minutes before putting on rose gold. Acids from lemon, sweat, and even some skincare ingredients can dull the blush tone. If the piece loses its rosy hue over time, replating is possible at most jewellery shops.
Using your Mannash polishing cloth
Your cloth is specially treated with a silver-safe cleaning compound. Use it for all 925 silver pieces — including silver-base of gold plated pieces on unplated areas.
1
Remove before cleaning
Take off the jewellery and lay it on a clean soft surface. Hold the piece at its edge — avoid touching gemstones or decorative surfaces with bare hands.
2
Buff in long, straight strokes
Using the lighter-coloured side of the cloth, stroke gently in one direction — don't scrub in circles. Follow the grain of the metal. For intricate areas, fold the cloth to a point.
3
The cloth will darken — that's normal
As the cloth removes tarnish it will turn grey or black. This is the silver sulphide being lifted from your piece. Don't wash the cloth — the treatment is in the fibres. A darkened cloth still works.
4
Store in your Zip Lock
Once the piece looks bright, pop it into the zip lock bag that came with your order and seal it. Keeping air out is the simplest way to slow tarnishing and lock in the shine between wears.

Clean the post and butterfly clasp weekly — bacteria accumulate here. For hoops, wipe the full ring. Check the clasp tension monthly and reshape gently if needed. Never yank earrings out — always open the clasp first.
Rings endure the most contact with everyday surfaces. Remove before washing hands, applying lotion and doing the dishes. Check the setting (the part holding a stone) every few months — if it wobbles, get it checked before the stone falls out.
Clasp the chain before storing to prevent tangling. Lay flat or hang individually. For intricate chains, use a soft toothbrush dipped in warm soapy water, then rinse and dry completely. Twisted or kinked chains can snap — never force them.
Charm bracelets need extra attention — clean between links with a soft brush. Adjustable bracelets: don't open and close them repeatedly, as this weakens the metal at the adjustment point. Bangles can be stored stacked in a fabric pouch.
Anklets are exposed to more sweat, friction, and dust than other jewellery. Wipe down daily. Remove before outdoor walks in dust or rain. Check the clasp weekly — ankle movement puts more stress on clasps than wrist or neck pieces.
Our 99.9% pure silver coins are crafted from the finest silver available. They're beautiful as keepsakes, gifts, or investments. Store your coin in the capsule it comes in, and keep it in a cool, dry place. If you ever want to clean it, a gentle rinse with distilled water followed by air drying is all it needs. Skip the polishing cloth on coins — a soft, dry cotton cloth or just the rinse works perfectly. That's really it.
Worn daily, mangalsutras need regular attention. Wipe the beads with a dry cloth and polish the pendant gently with your polishing cloth. Check the thread monthly — if it feels loose or shows fraying, have it re-strung before it breaks. Store laid flat, never coiled tightly.
Not at all — this is natural tarnishing and is completely reversible. Silver reacts with sulphur in the air to form a black layer (silver sulphide). Your Mannash polishing cloth will remove it quickly. For heavier tarnish, a 5-minute soak in warm water with mild soap followed by gentle brushing will restore the shine fully.
No — do not wash the polishing cloth. The cleaning compound is embedded in the fibres and washing will remove it entirely, turning the cloth into a regular fabric with no polishing properties. The cloth turning grey or black is a sign it's working. Replace it only when it stops restoring shine even after multiple uses.
We strongly advise against it. Toothpaste contains micro-abrasives that scratch the silver surface, and most formulations contain fluoride which can pit the metal over time. While it may seem to work initially, repeated use causes surface scratches that trap more tarnish. Use your Mannash polishing cloth instead — it's designed specifically for this.
Polish the silver setting gently with your cloth, keeping the cloth away from the stone itself. Most stones used in Mannash jewellery (cubic zirconia, synthetic stones, enamel) can be gently wiped with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking pieces with stones — water can seep under settings and loosen them over time. When in doubt, dry clean only.
It's simpler than you'd think. Keep the coin in the capsule it comes with and store it somewhere cool and dry — that's 90% of the care sorted. If you'd like to clean it, a gentle rinse with distilled water and air drying is all it needs. Some natural toning over time is completely normal and doesn't affect the coin's quality or value. No special tools or products required.
We recommend removing jewellery before showering. Soap, shampoo, and shower gel contain chemicals and surfactants that dull silver over time. Hot water speeds up tarnishing. Most importantly — plated jewellery (gold, rose gold) loses its finish significantly faster with regular exposure to shower water. A simple habit of leaving jewellery on your dressing table before a shower adds years to its life.
